Dinner Program: ASHRAE Research Project 1292 (Series vs. Parallel boxes)

Every day, consulting engineers in the HVAC Industry are faced with the challenge of selecting the best design for their projects.  With LEED and the importance of energy efficiency requirements, this can be a difficult task.  Engineers must understand the value and tradeoffs associated with one offering over another.  This presentation will cover the findings of ASHRAE Research Project 1292-RP, Comparison of the Total Energy Consumption of Series versus Parallel Fan Powered VAV Terminal Units.  This research is important for engineers deciding which unit to use for the best energy consumption versus comfort and IAQ for their project.

Speaker: Gus Faris

Gus Faris has over 40 years of experience in the air conditioning and air distribution business.  He is the Director of Engineering for Nailor Industries, Inc. with direct responsibility for product design and development, quality assurance, field service and IT.  Mr. Faris is active in AHRI Air Control and Distribution Devices section and subcommittees 880 and 885 as well as AHRI Heat Transfer Products section and Room Fan Coil subcommittee Chair.  He is also past Secretary of ASHRAE SPC 130 and also TC (Technical Committee) 5.3 (Air Distribution), past Chairman of ASHRAE RP 1292, Chair of TC 5.3, voting member of TC 5.3, TC 2.9 (UVC lights), and TC 7.7 (Test and Balance).
