Our April 14th meeting began with the introduction of this year’s Charles Kannapell Student Scholarship awards. The following students received awards:

  • Julio Cabrera - Northern Virginia Community College
  • Jiazhen Ling - University of Maryland
  • Raphael K. Mandel - University of Maryland
  • Andrew Todd Northern - Virginia Community College

Thanks to all of our NCC members who have continued to contribute towards these scholarships.

I would also like to thank our speakers for the evening David Johnson, Dunstan Macauley and Walt Thompson.

During our last PES and Dinner meeting of the season on May 12th we will hear from Regional Research Promotion VP, Jim Grant as he describes the importance of ASHRAE-Research and how all of us benefit from the donations and the work that comes about from these donations. Year after year, our Chapter has been recognized for the continued support of ASHRAE Research because of the dedication our members have shown to this Society of Engineers. Thank you!

And just a reminder we will also be opening registration for the May tour of the Finnish Embassy right after the May 12th meeting. The space is limited, so please register early if you want to attend.

We still have a few openings for the June 4th NCC golf tournament, please contact Andy Tech at (571) 233-2859 if you are interested.

As my year as the President of the National Capital Chapter is coming to the end I would like to personally thank all of our tireless ASHRAE volunteers for all their hard work. It is their commitment, dedication and hard work that keep our chapter running smoothly and successfully. It is a great time to get involved as we are getting ready to gear up for the next ASHRAE year. We have several great opportunities within the various committees and we will offer training in August. Please get in touch with any of the Board members if you are interested.
I wish everyone a wonderful and relaxing summer and we are looking forward to seeing you back again in the fall.
